28/04/09 - Crowden Club Run

Here's a map of tomorrow's route (added a note from Julian)

Last week most people preferred to go directly to the start, so I suggest the same again for tomorrow’s run from Crowden.

I’m picking John H. up from the leisure centre at 6:45, if anyone else wants a lift I’ve space for 3 more. If you are likely to be late we can hang on at Crowden for you

26/04/09 - Kinder Downfall

Sounds like a superb day this year with lots of fast times. Glossopdale results can be found here with a link to the main results. The main club championship has also been updated. There are lots of photos from Andy Howie, Neil Coverley and Geoff Briggs on the Hayfield website. Some good ones of the club.

16/04/09 - Herod Farm 2009

Results are now up

A short thank you from Andy W

I just wanted to say a very big thank you to everyone who helped in putting on a splendid Herod Farm race last night. We had a fantastic turnout of 126 runners on what was a very blustery night. Thank you also to all of you who ran in a very competitive event, and particular mention should be made of John Barber who not only provided the prizes, but cut his holiday short so that he could participate in the event and attend the presentation. The landlady at the Drovers, Ann summed it all up when she said to me last night "You know, you lot are a nice bunch!".

Here's some links to a few sets of photos from the race

Some Glossop photos from Mark V, some from GeoffB and ShaunP.

A message about tonight's club run from Julien

Tonight’s run is from Arnfield Lane (war memorial end) Tintwistle at 7.00 pm. I suggest bringing a torch as it may be getting dark at the end.

Below is a map of the route (8.6 miles). Click on it for a larger version

11/04/09 - Manx Marathons

An excellent long Easter weekend away on the Isle of Man for four Glossopdalers, running the Manx Mountain Marathon. In blazing sun so intense John H even risked running in just two layers, Glossopdale produced some great performances, taking away trophies for 3rd team, 2nd senior female (Jasmin) and 3rd male vet (Julien, who finished in an impressive 11th place), as well as Oscars for John's touching portrayal of Man In Pain and Charlie's Smug Git (having had the foresight to enter the half marathon and avoiding much of the 31.5 miles and 8000ft ascent).
This is a great race, running from Ramsey in the north down to Port Erin in the south via Snaefell and most of the biggest hills on the island, with beautiful sea views as a reward at the end. Plenty of nice rocks by the sea to lie around on in the sun the next day too.

The team did really well, picking up 3rd best team (Julien, John H and Jasmin). Julien came 11th, taking 3rd vet, and Jasmin was 2nd senior female.
