Fairfield Horseshoe

Fairfield Horseshoe leads to England Vests 14 May 2000

A glorious day for this classic Lakeland race.   Glossopdale were well represented in both quality and quantity.   Nine members turned out in a huge field of around 6000 runners for this ten mile race.   Dale Gartley had a tremendous run finishing as 2nd V40.   Sally Newman continued her assault on the women's title with another sterling performance to finish 70th overall and 2nd women, being less than a minute behind Janet King of Cumberland Fell Runners.   Dale's and Sal's performances earned them an ENGLAND VEST, being selected for national honours in the Home International race at Knockdhu on 20th May 2000.

Dale was supported in the vets team by Simon, Frank and Andy Wilkins.   Other club members included Andy Bardsley, Neil Shuttleworth and making their Lakeland debut, Gerry Moss and Jackie Purvis.
